Boost for dam, temple tourism

The state cabinet today approved proposals to boost tourism in the Patratu dam valley and Rajrappa temple areas of Ramgarh district by engaging consultants on nomination basis, instead of floating open tenders.

Ranchi, Dec. 8: The state cabinet today approved proposals to boost tourism in the Patratu dam valley and Rajrappa temple areas of Ramgarh district by engaging consultants on nomination basis, instead of floating open tenders.

A hanging bridge has been proposed over river Bhairavi, overlooking Maa Chhinamastika temple in Rajrappa. RITES, a public sector enterprise, will be the consultant to draft a detailed project report on ways to develop the area as an attractive tourist spot.

The Maa Chhinamastika temple draws hundreds of devotees from across the country everyday. The state government has already proposed Rs 3.96 crore for developing the temple complex.

Consultant KMPG will be engaged to provide advisory services for the development of the Patratu valley area which has immense potential as tourist spot.

"DPRs prepared by the consultants would enable us find out the estimated expenses involved in these projects," clarified cabinet coordination department additional chief secretary N.N. Pandey.

The cabinet also approved:

• single window clearance bill-2015, which was presented in the Assembly in the last session but withdrawn and later enacted as an ordinance, would now be tabled in winter session of the Assembly. Pandey said while Jharkhand Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation would be functioning as its secretariat, its governing body will be headed by the chief minister.

• the formation of Jharkhand State Agriculture Development Corporation for the benefit of farmers. Minister Randhir Kumar Singh termed it a "historic decision" as the corporation would be responsible for improving agriculture productivity through various means

• the sanction of Rs 467 crore for the construction of a new Vidhan Sabha building.
