Role-play: Imran Zahid |
Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is showering his discovery Imran Zahid with one offer after another.
Bokaro boy Zahid, who was supposed to play the lead role in Mahesh Bhatt’s Chandu, says his dream of being a part of the celluloid world is finally coming true with his debut in Jism 2.
Directed by Pooja Bhatt, the thriller is slated to go on the floor next month.
“I play a narcotics sleuth in the film,” Zahid told The Telegraph. “This would be more of a guest appearance. I have the blessings of my mentor Mahesh Bhatt and I am happy with this small role,” stressed the debutant.
Jism 2 stars Randeep Hooda of Jannat 2 and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai fame and Indo-Canadian actress and model Sunny Leone in the lead roles.
Written by Mahesh Bhatt, the film is produced by Pooja Bhatt and Dino Morea. It is a sequel to the 2003 blockbuster Jism, which had John Abraham and Bipasha Basu as the protagonists. The film revolves around a porn star (Sunny Leone), who is hired by an intelligence officer to trap a dreaded assassin (Randeep Hooda). The film is about how she confronts her bitter and sweet past and is also forced to put her life at risk.
Talking about the delayed project Chandu, Zahid said the script was being reworked.
“Chandu is an eponymous film based on the life of slain Jawaharlal Nehru University student activist Chandrashekhar Prasad, who was shot dead on March 31, 1997 while addressing a political rally at Siwan in Bihar,” said Zahid.
However, things changed after Patna additional sessions judge found Dhruv Kumar Jaiswal, Sheikh Munna and Illiyas Warris guilty of murder and rewarded them life imprisonment. Following the development, the entire script is being reworked.
“I am hopeful that the film will hit the screens very soon,” Zahid said.
Zahid, touted as one of the promising newcomer, has already starred in Mahesh Bhatt’s theatre production The Last Salute. He played the journalist-turned-activist Muntadhar Al Zaidi who hurled a shoe at former US president George W. Bush.
