An unidentified biker gang opened fire on the house of a site manager of a private company at Hanuman Chowk in Giddi, Hazaribagh on Thursday night. However, no one was hurt.

Site manager Varun Vishwas works for Nasim Ansari of Asahi Engineering and Construction Private Limited. The company was constructing a road in the area.

The gang fired three rounds and hurled abusive language, escaping after taking the Sheetla Mandir road.

The incident is alleged to be an attempt to terrorise the company and workers to get levies.

Company officials said as the work started, they immediately got threats from criminals who passed an order to stop the work and first talk to them on February 27.

Work started again on March 2 when Vishwas received more threats.

On Wednesday, two bikers with covered faces came to the construction site and met Vishwas demanding their share from the sanctioned fund for the project.

At the time of firing, Vishwas was in the house with his wife Kavita and son Bhaskar (12).

Giddi officer-in-charge Vijay Kumar Singh reached the spot and collected the empty bullets. An investigation is on.
