Ranchi, June 13: Get ready to shake a leg as a rain dance event, appropriately called “Beat the heat”, is set to take place at Ranchi Club poolside on Saturday.
The biggest annual rain dance party in the city should bring relief to the members who have been braving extremely hot weather conditions for the last few months.
The club has decided to divide the poolside into wet and dry areas for the members' comfort. Those not wishing to get wet but still enjoy the party will have the option to sit in the dry zone and see the rain dance.
As many as 1,000 members will be following the dress code of pastel or floral beachwear.
“The programme will start late evening. It will be followed by peppy Bollywood rain songs from the stable of a Calcutta-based DJ,” said Jyoti Bajaj, in-charge of entertainment committee of the club.
The club will have Continental, Chinese and South Indian delicacies on its menu.
“We have been organising the rain dance in our club for the last 10 years and this is considered to be one of the major events which the members look forward to,” Bajaj said.
According to club officials, they would make arrangements for sprinklers to give the effect of rainfall.
After the event, both junior and senior club members would indulge in a water polo competition the next day.
“Our members will play in the pool,” Bajaj added.
Both the events organised by the club are important annual summer events in the city’s social diary.
Meanwhile, Ranchi Gymkhana Club (RGC) is yet to chalk out plans of its annual rain dance party.
