Ranchi, Oct. 2: Tired of the rain, then how about some sun and sand? Sheesha, the new restaurant with an Arabic theme at Hotel Yuvraj Palace, may well lift your spirits.
The restaurant, done up in true Arabian style, is one-of-its-kind in the state. From barbecues to mouth-watering kebabs, the new restaurant has been given a desert look.
“Here one can spend an evening in the desert by an oasis,” said hotel proprietor Sanjay Chopra.
Chopra’s visits to the Middle East inspired him to build a restaurant on this theme and he has taken care of all the minute details. The walls of the enclosure have been painted with camels and figures of humans walking across sand dunes, while a waterproof canopy protects the restaurant. Inside the canopy, small tables and stools are arranged and a bright red umbrella adds to the desert feel. Arrangements have also been made for lighting bonfires and temporary charcoal fireplaces are also in place.
The restaurant also has introduced its own variety of kebabs, which would be grilled before the guests. “The barbecue has been placed at one side of the restaurant. The different kebabs would be served with Arabic khabus (roti) which ideally goes well with meat,” Chopra said.
Apart from interior decor, Chopra has laid emphasis on entertainment, too. A plasma TV would be installed which would play belly-dancing videos and Arabic music on request, Chopra said.
“The restaurant was opened about three days ago and we have received a good response so far. The restaurant is new in the sense that it is an open-air one, which is ideal for the summers and during winters, we can have bonfires going,” Chopra said.
Sheesha will also serve an exotic variety of hukkahs. “Flavoured hukkahs have been imported. Flavours like sweet lime, grapes, lemon and cappuccino have been well received,” Chopra said.
