Srinagar: Reaching out to politicians and accountability seem to be high on the agenda of Jammu and Kashmir governor N.N. Vohra.

Vohra has called for an all-party meeting in Srinagar on Friday to discuss the situation in the wake of the implementation of governor's rule in the state and seek their support for smooth functioning of the administration.

In a separate order, the governor indicated he might crack the whip on corrupt employees as he sought a list of officials who have not filed their annual property statements.

Vohra took charge of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday after the Centre imposed governor's rule in the state for the fourth time in his 10-year stint.

His term ends on June 25, but he might be asked to continue during the two-month-long Amarnath Yatra that ends in August.

Vohra has already placed the Assembly in suspended animation. The six-year term of the current Assembly ends in March 2021, provided fresh elections are not held.

Officials said the governor had invited the chiefs of all state-based pro-India parties and the presidents of the state units of the national parties on Friday to discuss the situation.

"The aim is also to reach out to the political parties and seek their help in smooth functioning of the state," an official said.

National Conference provincial chief Nasir Aslam Wani said the party had received an invite and would send a delegation.

NC sources said the delegation would reiterate the demand for the dissolution of the Assembly, alleging there were worries that the BJP might resort to horse-trading to form a government. The BJP has denied such charges.

The source said the meeting would take place on Friday evening.

Separately, a senior state functionary has directed the different administrative departments to submit reports on various issues for the appraisal of the governor. The reports will include the list of officials who have not filed their annual property statements.

The previous PDP-BJP government had been dogged by allegations of corruption and embezzlement, one of the reasons behind a sharp decline in its popularity.

The sources said many employees, including senior officials, had not submitted their annual property statements despite reminders, apparently taking advantage of one crisis after another that has hit the state.

Governor Vohra has cancelled all the orders issued by the previous government on its last day in office.
