March 28: Indians travelling to Thailand will be charged fees for their visas from March 31.
The Thai embassy in New Delhi announced today that the charges would also apply to tourists who apply for visas on arrival in Thailand. Fees will be collected at immigration checkpoints.
Tourists on single visits would be charged Rs 1,400, while passengers in transit would have to pay Rs 1,100 each time they enter the country, the embassy said.
Business travellers and other non-immigrants face a Rs 2,800 fee for a single visit and a Rs 7,000 fee for a visa allowing more than one visit. If they apply for a three-year multiple-entry visa — one that does not restrict the number of visits — they must pay Rs 14,000.
The embassy asks tourists applying through the VFS visa application centre to attach demand drafts for their visa fees if they apply after the first session on Thursday.
