New Delhi, April 13: The Union finance ministry has dismissed from service the general manager of Indian Security Press in Nashik for conniving with scamster Abdul Karim Telgi in the fake stamp paper racket.
The general manager, Ganga Prakash, was dismissed from service on April 1 in the interest of security of the state, a CBI spokesman said.
The action was taken under Article 311 of the Constitution, which pertains to the removal or reduction in rank of a government employee following evidence suggesting his involvement in an offence.
Last year, on December 19, the CBI had arrested the general manager on charges of helping Telgi and his associates to acquire knowhow on printing of stamps and non-judicial stamp papers.
Four other employees of Indian Security Press — machinist .A. Bhusare, works manager Mahendra Singh, assistant controller of stamps P.P. Konkane and head clerk D.S. Shaligram — were also booked.
Sleuths investigating the stamp scam case had also found Rs 1.86 lakh in cash from the general manager’s house and seized fixed deposit documents worth lakhs of rupees.
CBI sources alleged that Telgi had gifted two expensive Rado watches to Prakash during a meeting.
The general manager had allegedly sought Telgi’s help to get promoted to the post. In return, he promised all help from the press.
