The Delhi government, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has announced that it would organise a “large scale” Saraswati Puja at Connaught Place’s Central Park on Saturday.

“This year Delhi Govt. is organizing Saraswati Puja on large scale at Central Park, CP. 13th Feb. Evening,” culture minister Kapil Mishra tweeted.

“People felt the need for it. It’s not about religion, it is a community event,” Mishra said later. Shubha Mudgal is expected to sing at the event.

Delhi Congress chief J.P. Aggarwal accused the AAP of holding such festivals to divert attention from their alleged failures. The BJP said it would keep an eye on expenditures.
