Bahubali: The Conclusion has become the first Indian film to vault the Rs 100-crore-mark on the day of release.

The Telugu magnum opus - that also released wide in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam - opened huge on Friday across the country powered by hype and positive word-of-mouth. The S.S. Rajamouli-directed blockbuster released in 6,500 screens in India and a total of 9,000 worldwide.

"GRAND INDIA TOTAL OF 121 crores NET!!!!! HINDI IS 41 crores!!! TAMIL + TELUGU + MALAYALAM = 80 crores!!!! HISTORY HAS BEEN CREATED!!!!!!" read a tweet from filmmaker-producer Karan Johar, who has lent his marketing muscle to Bahubali: The Conclusion.

The Hindi version of Bahubali 2 scored Rs 41 crore, just behind Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year that holds the record for the biggest-ever Hindi film opening at Rs 44.97 crore. Third on the list behind Bahubali 2 is Salman Khan's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, that earned Rs 40.35 crore on release. Aamir Khan's Dangal - the biggest Bollywood blockbuster yet with a worldwide earning of Rs 792 crore - is placed at a lowly number 9 on the list, grossing Rs 29.78 crore when it released in December 2016.
