New Delhi, Oct. 23: Narendra Modi’s first “talk from the heart” became a talking point. He is now set to take the mike for his second.
The next Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister’s interactive radio session, will be aired on Sunday, November 2.
Like the previous one on October 3 coinciding with Vijaya Dashami, Modi has invited people to share their thoughts, comments and examples of good governance in the upcoming show on the All India Radio (AIR).
“Looking forward to the 2nd Mann Ki Baat Radio Programme on Sunday 2nd November 2014 at 11am,” the Prime Minister tweeted on Wednesday.
“Once again, I invite you to share thoughts, comments & examples of good governance initiatives that have left an impression on your mind,” he wrote in another tweet that followed the announcement of the programme.
The Dashami broadcast was a 15-minute speech, followed by the interaction with his listeners, with Modi tapping the Centre-run AIR’s network to reach out to millions in rural India with no access to TV.
Modi invited his audience to join him in his efforts to speed up the economic recovery, urged them to adopt khadi products and pay special attention to cleanliness.
The information and broadcasting ministry had pulled out all stops to ensure the programme was successful. It urged news channels, and FM and community radio stations to take the feed from AIR. Most of them did.
The ministry had also put out ads on the programme. For the November 2 address too, all channels will be used to broadcast the speech, sources said.
Officials of Prasar Bharati, the Centre-owned corporation which runs AIR and DD, described the Dashami programme as “very popular”.
“We don’t have an overall data, as many people tuned in through private radio and TV channels too. But a survey in eight cities and towns after the October 3 talk revealed that 90 per cent of the listeners on four AIR channels — FM Gold and FM Rainbow, Vividh Bharati and medium and short wave — heard the Prime Minister,” said a senior AIR official.
