New Delhi, June 27 (PTI): The hearing on Bollywood film producer Karim Morani’s bail plea was deferred today by Delhi High Court to July 5, pending the submission of report on his health condition by a Delhi hospital. Morani has been arrested in the 2G scam.
The hospital informed the court that his medical report is awaited for a final opinion from a neurosurgeon. A partial status report has been submitted which states that he was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for a comprehensive evaluation of loss of consciousness in jail. The report denied that he suffered from any serious ailment.
Chandigarh (PTI): A 55-year-old patient was burnt alive on Monday night after an oxygen cylinder exploded in the ICU at PGIMER in Chandigarh, police said. Cancer patient Kindar Singh was hospitalised there for a month.
Jamnagar (PTI): A group of Somalian pirates landed on the Gujarat coast on Monday and were detained. It is the second such incident in less than 10 days. The pirates’ ship drifted to the Dwarka coast while being chased by a Nato helicopter.
Siliguri: The mayor and the chairperson of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation has resigned, paving the way for the formation of a new civic board to be run jointly by the Congress and Trinamul. Mayor Gangotri Dutta’s resignation means the office of the deputy mayor and the seven members-mayor-in-council stand dissolved.
New Delhi (PTI): A vegetable vendor, who tried to cheat the BSF for a job, has been freed by a Delhi court on the ground that he has been facing trial for 16 years. He tried to trick the BSF in 1996 to give him the job on the basis of a forged recommendation letter of the Union home ministry.
Meerut (PTI): A newly-wedded woman who told her husband about her earlier marriage was dumped by her first partner. Aarti’s new husband had offered to unite her with Vineet but he refused to accept her.
