New Delhi, July 19: Senior counsel Gopal Subramanium has turned down the Supreme Court’s proposal to appoint him a special public prosecutor in the coal-block allocation case.
Sources close to Subramanium — he is abroad now — said he had expressed his disinclination to accept the post citing “pressing commitments”, reports our legal correspondent.
This is the second time in recent weeks that Subramanium has been in the news. Last month, he withdrew his consent to become a Supreme Court judge after the NDA regime questioned his credentials citing adverse Intelligence Bureau findings.
New Delhi (PTI): A gas leak in a well at Mumbai High on Saturday prompted ONGC to shut down drilling operations and evacuate all non-essential staff. “There was no blowout. It was just a gas leak. All operations are safe,” a source said.
Badaun (PTI): The CBI on Saturday began exhuming the bodies of two Dalit sisters who were raped and murdered but had to suspend the process as rising level of the Ganga threatened to inundate the graves. The need for a fresh autopsy was felt as an earlier post-mortem report was only suggestive of rape.
