Jaipur, July 7: A court here today granted bail to eight IOC officials arrested in connection with last October’s devastating fire at its depot that left 11 people dead and more than 100 injured.
Nine officials had been booked under under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 304 (A) (death due to negligence) and several other sections as well as under the Petroleum Act, 1934.
The Jaipur district and sessions court judge said as no evidence was found of their presence during the accident on October 29, 2009, they were being granted bail.
Counsel for the officials Amar Singh said all of them were let off except for Ashok Kumar Gupta, officer operations, terminal.
The other officials arrested were Gautam Bose then GM, IOC; Rajesh Shyal, chief manager operations; Sheshank Shekhar, senior manager, operations; Kailash Shankar Kanojia, terminal manager; Arun Kumar Poddar, senior terminal manager; Kapil Kumar Goyal, deputy manager, terminal; Kailash Nath Agarwal, chargeman, and S.S. Gupta, chief officer, pipeline.
