Mumbai, Aug. 13: A non-teaching employee of IIT Bombay was arrested yesterday for allegedly molesting a 26-year-old PhD scholar of the institute after she complained about him.
According to police, the accused and the victim are acquaintances.
On Friday, the victim was invited by S.V. Rajan to his quarters where he offered her snacks, after which she fell unconscious. “While losing consciousness, she had called her friend in Hyderabad,” said a police officer. This friend tracked down the girl’s hostel mates who rescued her from Rajan’s home.
On regaining consciousness in hospital last night, the girl complained to the police.
The girl refused to undergo medical examination.
