Patna, March 18: An FIR was lodged today against the administration of a reputable city school from where a girl disappeared mysteriously on February 28.
A source said the FIR was lodged against the school with Shastri Nagar police station for providing false information regarding the missing girl and anomalies related to admissions as well as examinations. Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jitender Rana told The Telegraph late in the evening that the focus of the police was the safe recovery of the girl.
'The police are checking all the records of the school thoroughly but our focus at present is on the recovery of the girl,' the SSP said.
Five teams have been constituted to locate the girl. Her last location was Khagaul.
DIG (central range) Upendra Kumar Sinha confirmed that the investigations of the police had revealed that the school used to fill up examination forms of students illegally. 'Thorough investigations have revealed that the school or some of its authorities were involved in fraudulent practices related to exams,' he said.
Earlier in the day, the school principal was summoned to the Shastri Nagar police station 'for interrogation'.
In the initial phase of the investigations into the case, the school principal had said that she was not a student of his institution. He had given in writing that she had failed in the Class XI examination and had not tried to re-admit herself in the school.
'The principal had claimed that the missing girl's last attendance in the school was on March 8 last year. But after contacting the CBSE authorities, the police found that the girl had filled up the form to appear in the Plus Two exams this year. She had been given an admit card and her exam centre was St Michael's School in Digha,' a police officer said.
'Had the girl failed in her Class XI exams, how did she get the admit card for the Plus Two board examination? The principal gave wrong information to mislead the police,' the officer said.
The father of the missing girl claimed that his daughter had not failed in the Class XI examination and had attended classes after March 2014. 'She had participated in a dance contest in the school in August last year. How could the principal claim that she never went to the school after March 2014?' he asked.
The father had lodged an FIR at the Shastri Nagar police station the day his daughter had disappeared. According to a PTI report, the State Human Rights Commission, Bihar, today took suo motu cognisance of the disappearance of the 17-year-old girl and directed the Patna SSP to file a progress report in the case within a week.
