New Delhi, June 11(PTI): Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Lal Krishna Advani will continue at all the posts from which he resigned on Monday, BJP chief Rajnath Singh said barely a day after Advani’s shock decision had plunged the main Opposition party into a crisis.

Advani’s turnaround was welcomed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It was Modi’s appointment as head of the BJP campaign committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections that had prompted Advani to resign in the first place.

“I had said yesterday that Advani ji will not disappoint lakhs of Karyakartas (workers). Today, I whole heartedly welcome his decision,” Modi tweeted within minutes of the announcement by the party chief.

Singh said Advani has accepted the decision of the BJP Parliamentary Board to reject his resignation, and his concerns about the functioning of the party will be addressed.

The BJP said Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, had spoken to Advani and asked him to respect the BJP parliamentary board's decision and continue to guide the party in the national interest.

'Shri Advani has decided to accept Shri Bhagwat’s advice,' the party said.

Advani had resigned from the National Executive, Election Committee and Parliamentary Board.
