Complete your look…
1 The locks. If you are taking the traditional route, you might as well go all the way! Take a cue from Kareena Kapoor as she delivers her traditional best (left). Keep your hair in a tight above-the-nape bun.
2 The gorgeous gajra. Deck your bun with a beautiful gajra. It’s so aesthetically appealing, sealing your style with all the tradition you need. You can either wrap it around your bun like Kareena, or pin it to the bun and make it hang like tassels.
3 The bindi. Big or small, nothing changes your face like a bindi can. Find your signature colour and size, or experiment and mix and match, but a bindi — bling or simple — is a must.
4 The jhumkas. A traditional Kanjeevaram or a gota patti sari from Rajasthan calls for timeless jhumkas. For us, the bigger the better (super-sized jhumkas are just SO hot!) but if you are in the mood for delicate, small it is. Keep the neck and arms bare, that’s what the style doctor ordered.
5 The make-up. Lots of kohl and then some more. Indian eyes open dramatically with a sweep of kajal. Unleash its magic on this magical night.
