the Cap

The cap is new. Basically, if I had one inspiration, it would be Sicilian mafia-meeting-Dolce & Gabbana. He is looking rugged! The way he has worn his clothes is casually chic. The shirt button is open, the tie is a little pulled down and the cap is pulled in for fashion. So, it’s even more casual. It’s a phenomenal look, a cult look. When Ranbir Kapoor wore his black suit with the white shirt and black tie in Badtameez dil, it became a cult look for every youngster. What Cristiano Ronaldo has done is just put on a cap. He is carrying it off brilliantly. The cap brings a lot of sportiness and casualness.

The suit

The three-piece suit is lovely. That’s very much in trend. Single breast, two-buttoned with peak lapels. That’s the new look of the suit nowadays. Slim silhouette. Silm-fit trousers. He looks so much taller. It just shows that it has been cut to his body and it looks like it’s made for his size rather than just picked up ready-made. He is wearing a beautiful tuxedo shirt underneath. You have to have a body like his to carry off this suit.

The watch

Have you seen that chunky watch?! It’s a fashion statement. He always has this habit of wearing chunky watches.

The shoes

It’s a very cool style of wearing formals with such shoes. Very in! That also adds casualness to the whole formalness of the suit.

The sideburns

That’s a very nice look on men now… they have stubble, beard and full moustaches. The sideburns are all about facial hair which is very cool at the moment. I have seen this tapering style on him over the years.

The studs

That’s a pure metrosexual man there.

the Takeaways

There is a ton to learn from the look. My takeaway is the look of the suit, but you don’t have to buy black. It’s summer time. Buy different colours. I would do this in the blue family this season. Everybody is buying blue… not a navy or ink-blue but something in between an ink-blue and a navy. Then I would be doing a lot of light colours this summer… lovely light-coloured trousers and deep-coloured jackets.

It looks like somebody has seriously styled him. This has not come out of the blue! He has been styled for the whole effect and he has carried it off with amazing aplomb! Not many people could take off so beautifully in something like this, making it a cult look now. Every young boy wants a black-and-white suit with that thin black tie. It is already a fashion statement in India. I think what can take off is may be, not the cap so much, but the casual shoes with a formal suit would look fantastic. That’s going to be a big style change. It is a young, trendy, hip and effortless look. In the Indian weather we may not want to wear a suit, but we may want to wear it with a waistcoat. It has become a standard form of dressing… the Nehru jackets.

A man who is totally in touch with himself. Effortless. That’s Cristiano Ronaldo for you. That’s the man. Only a man of his personality can carry it off. He has got a great personality. He is a totally people’s person.
