Taj Bengal’s lobby is iconic and easily recognisable, almost synonymous with the star property. One that’s full of culture, history and fond memories of Calcutta-style adda. And, The Promenade Lounge, a meeting and melting pot for so many decades. A place for your chai/coffee and conversations. Now, there is a fresh feel to it. Post-pandemic, the hotel resumed its renovation projects and has “relaunched” the hangout. From the classic Calcutta table setup, to a menu that pays homage to not just British teatime but also incorporates the city’s wide variety of street food, there’s a lot on offer. “The Promenade Lounge relaunch has been conceptualised and positioned to relive Calcutta’s nostalgia by serving classic Indian and English afternoon tea. To have the relaunch along with Arindamda’s (actor and director, Arindam Sil) Feluda series gives us immense pleasure. Just like Feluda in his series is modernised to suit today’s generation, in a similar manner Promenade has also evolved over the past three decades and we can say it’s The Promenade Lounge 2.0. The place where guests can enjoy the classic afternoon tea, read a book of their choice from the library, and indulge in adda which Calcutta loves,” said Arnab Chatterjee, hotel manager, Taj Bengal. t2 checked it out on April 29 along with the cast and crew of Shabash Feluda, Arindam Sil’s modern take on Feluda, starring Parambrata Chattopadhyay, which is now streaming on Zee5.
