Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Detective Inspector Jaspreet Bhamra looks for a child who went missing from an Indian family in the teaser of Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders.

Dropped by production house Balaji Motion Pictures on Tuesday, the one-minute teaser opens with Jaspreet joining the police force in Buckingham. “The new DI is tough,” remarks an officer, with the following scenes depicting a scuffle on a street and the funeral of a child. It is revealed that Jaspreet is grieving the loss of her own son as she stands before his pyre, holding his clothes.

Upon taking up her new role, Jaspreet strives to find a child who went missing from a local park. As tensions rise and riots break out, a man comments, “No one should lose their loved ones.”

Jaspreet tracks down a suspect, but he refuses to reveal anything about the missing child. The teaser hints that the child may have been murdered. A hair-raising scream and the jarring visual of blood splattering on Jaspreet’s face bring the video to a close.

Also starring Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon and Assad Raja, The Buckingham Murders is slated to hit theatres on September 13. Its screenplay has been penned by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Raj Kakker.

Kareena, who was last seen in Rajesh A. Krishnan’s Crew alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon, makes her debut as a producer with the murder mystery. The actress is co-producing the film with Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the banners of Balaji Telefilms, Mahana Films and TBM Films.

The Buckingham Murders had its world premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival in October 2023.
