The Hindi remake of Rambo is taking time as it requires a lot of preparation for action sequences, director Siddharth Anand has said.

There were reports that the Tiger Shroff project was shelved but Anand says it is in the pipeline. “...while Tiger and I were working on these things, another film with YRF came into the picture. For the first lead, we felt Hrithik Roshan was an apt choice. For the second lead I bounced the idea to Tiger,” Anand told PTI. “I told him that if we do this film now, we will have to push Rambo. We both agreed that we give a little bit of more time to prepare (for Rambo).”

So, right now, the deal is — as soon as the YRF film shoot is over, work will begin on Rambo.

The initial plan is to make Rambo a franchise, but that can happen, Anand said, only if the part one does well.

“We need to bring the first film out and then see if the audience wants to watch more of this character or not. It will go on floors by 2019 end and release in 2020,” he said.

Anand’s last was the action film Hrithik and Katrina Kaif-starrer Bang Bang (2014). Before that, he directed films like Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Bachna Ae Haseeno.
