All you gorgeous gals, get ready to flaunt your trendy festival wardrobe when you go pandal-hopping this Puja. Lakme Sananda Style Diva 2011 is on the lookout for fashionistas.

“The Pujas is when everyone feels like dressing up and going out in their finery. To know that there is a chance to win a pageant like this is an added incentive to up your style quotient,” said designer Agnimitra Paul at a curtain-raiser fashion show held last Monday at HHI.

She was accompanied by designers Paromita Banerjee and Soumitra Mondal who shared festive fashion tips.

If you think you have what it takes to be crowned diva, drop into the Lakme Sananda Style Diva zones at popular pandal stops like Singhi Park in Gariahat, Labony Estate in Salt Lake, Barisha Club Behala and Shimla Byayam Samiti in Girish Park, between 6pm and 9pm, on all five Puja days.

“For me, a diva is someone who can carry off any look with confidence and character. It is not always about looking glamorous; you have to be able to stand out in your own way,” said Paromita, who displayed her earthy fusion designs at the fashion show.

Post the Pujas, a panel of judges from the fashion world will select pictures of the top 10 contestants and from those shortlisted, three winners will be chosen.

The dates for the results are still under wraps. Watch this space for more.

The staircase turned into a ramp on Wednesday evening with the launch of Zenon, a multi-designer store by Aashish and Namrata Goenka (in picture below with designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh who inaugurated the store). The 76B Chakraberia Road address played host to a fashion show by designer Anju Modi, whose collection Maaya was “about the cycle of life”. Models showed off Mughal angarkhas, saris and Anarkalis in velvet, chiffon, Benarasi weaves and Chanderi. Show over, a wine and cheese affair welcomed shopaholics. “I am overwhelmed by the response,” said Namrata. Pictures by Rashbehari Das
