Koneenica’s kid sis is all set to...

Step on to the big screen. Ritwika has bagged the lead role in an untitled film by director Ashish Mitra. “I play a bubbly girl next door and we begin shooting in end-June.... After finishing my BA in philosophy from Ashutosh College, I got a call from the producers, Riya Arts, and they offered me the role,” says the 20-year-old.

The acting bug had bitten her...

When she was in Class V. That was when she did her first TV serial Mahaprabhu. “After that I did an episode in Ek Nombor Messbari when I was in Class X. I also did three telefilms for ETV Bangla — Ora Thake Odhare, Bikele Bhorer Phool and Sadanander Mela. I loved doing Sadanander Mela as I got the opportunity to share screen space with Soumitra Chatterjee. I learnt a lot from him.”

She is now busy shooting for...

The mega serial Takhon Raat Barota, where she has a double role. “I play Jessica, a Christian girl, who is murdered. Then the serial goes into flashback mode. Later, some people involved in her murder discover Jessica’s lookalike in a village.... But it has got nothing to do with the Jessica Lal murder case,” says Ritwika, waiting for Takhon Raat Barota to go on air.

The film Abaar Ashbo Phire. “I liked her best in that film. She did a brilliant job. I also liked her in the telefilm Notun Gaan, where she played a mentally challenged girl. It was a very difficult role but Didi carried it off with elan.”

Didi is her inspiration and role model but...

Ritwika gets little time to spend with her. “Didi keeps so busy that the only time we get together is at the dinner table. And then we only have fun and crack jokes!”
