Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earns Rs 21 crore in India in 4 days, emerges as the fifth-biggest Hollywood opener this year

Sony Pictures’ animated superhero film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has earned Rs 21 crore nett at the Indian box office, emerging as the fifth-biggest Hollywood film in terms of opening weekend collection in India this year, according to trade reports.

The top four Hollywood films with the highest opening weekend collection in India are Vin Diesel-starrer Fast X (Rs 61 crore nett), Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (Rs 25 crore nett), Chris Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (Rs 24 crore nett) and Keanu Reeves-starrer John Wick 4 (Rs 23.1 crore nett).

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, released in India on June 1, raking in Rs 8 crore nett in the first two days. The film collected around Rs 6.2 crore nett in India on Saturday, followed by Rs 6.75 crore nett on its first Sunday, as per trade reports.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also dominated the box office in the US over the weekend, earning a whopping USD 120.5 million in ticket sales. According to Box Office Mojo, it emerged as the second-biggest opener in the US in 2023, after The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned USD 146.4 million in the first weekend. With an additional USD 88.5 million from the overseas market, the worldwide gross of the animated film stands at USD 208.6 million.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is headlined by Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, who lent their voices to Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, respectively. The film also features Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya and Oscar Isaac in supporting roles.
