Raima Sen has been dropped from Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann, which has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. The role has reportedly gone to Traffic Signal girl Neetu Chandra.
A “disappointed” Raima told t2 from Pune: “Four days before shooting, Ramu sent me an SMS saying that he has changed the role and it wasn’t suitable for me. I am not upset but I think it’s very unprofessional on his part. I don’t know who has replaced me and I am not concerned about that.”
Raima was slated to play the girlfriend of Phoonk hero Sudeep in Rann. Her portion was to start from today. “It’s a minuscule role but I didn’t mind because I wanted to work with Ramu.... I had a few scenes and a song-and-dance in Rann, and it was always supposed to be a very sexy character. It is strange that Ramu was so keen on me doing this film four months ago and now four days before shooting he decides that I am not sexy for the role anymore!” said Raima, who had passed up a few projects for Rann.
“I signed Rann only last week. But it was a mutual agreement that I would block my dates for Rann. The film was being postponed from January and I went on blocking my dates for Ramu,” said the Bengali beauty.
So, what was her reply to Ramu’s SMS?
“I just wrote ‘okay’. He is a director and he must have had his reasons. But I am shocked because this has never happened to me before,” said Raima, who’s now looking forward to the release of Leena Yadav’s Teen Patti with Amitabh Bachchan and Madhavan, Vinay Shukla’s Mirch with Konkona Sensharma and Shahana Goswami, and Aparna Sen’s The Japanese Wife.
