Kohl is a constant in your make-up kit. Why do you love the kajal so much?
It’s a thing for Indian beauty, it enhances the Indian eyes, especially for someone who doesn’t use make-up too much. To go out sometimes, a stroke of kajal just transforms it.
What colours are you trying this season?
This Lakme season, it’s all about Lakme Reinvent… the cherry-plum colour, the matte lipstick. It’s also one of my favourite colours!
We actually see you a lot in that shade. Why is cherry-plum such a favourite?
If you are talking about bright colours, plum and red come to mind. Against my skin, it kind of brings out the colour more.
What are we most likely to find in your bag at all times?
I think it would definitely be kajal. It’s not like I use a lot of foundation.
You will be show-stopping for Anamika Khanna…
I have worn her once or twice at events before but of course walking for her collection, it will be very exciting. She’s supremely talented.
Who else is a favourite from the Calcutta school of fashion?
Two years ago I walked for Kallol Datta. He is very new and upcoming and LFW gave him the ramp and we walked together.
What’s the one fashion item that you have from Bengal?
Well, I have never really shopped in Bengal, but I would love to own one of those Bengali saris. They are known for that. And probably I would love my mother-in-law (Sharmila Tagore) to gift me one.
What do you like hubby Saif Ali Khan best in and what does he like you best in?
Well, I think Saif likes me in saris. And personally, whenever I am out for a function, saris are something I swear by and he loves that about me. To pick something for Saif is very difficult because he is Asia’s most stylish man… the way he wears the suit, the way he wears his jodhpurs… I am yet to see an Indian man dress as dapper as Mr Khan!
