DANCE DANCE: Local boy Shantanu Maheshwari has made Calcutta proud. On Sunday night, the 24-year-old who shot into the spotlight with Dil Dostii Dance and is now the face of Bindass Naach danced his way to the World of Dance trophy in Los Angeles. Competing against participants from 14 countries, Shantanu and his team Desi Hoppers — that included his close friends and Bindass Naach co-stars Nimit Kotian and Macedon D’mello — became the first-ever dance troupe to not only represent India but also win the title on debut.
Dressed in white suits and sporting Tricolour handbands, Shantanu and his team of six mesmerised the crowd with their moves to hits like I Got The Power and Jumme ki raat hai, receiving a standing ovation from the screaming audience. Besides the trophy, Desi Hoppers took home a cheque for $5,000.
“This is our tribute to the country. We hope that this win will definitely inspire many young Indians and give them a message that if you can dream, you can achieve them too,” was the message from Shantanu-Nimit-Macedon.
