Movie-goers are showering love on sequels and reboots, including the recent superhit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. With the Tips’ announcement of Ishq Vishk Rebound, we get a smart term for reboots.

Remember Student of the Year 2 wasn’t that long ago? The makers get a new story, a fresh cast, and a common setting and retain the hit film’s title and the chartbuster track. New wine in an old bottle, right? Why not when recycling is the thing!

But millennials who were in high school and college and had fallen in love with debutants Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasury in Ken Ghosh’s two-decade-old, sleeper hit Ishq Vishk would miss the cast and might even compare Rebound with the original.  Ishq Vishk Rebound will have a contemporary perspective of the 2003 college rom-com and how Gen Zs look at love and relationships.

Marathi director-actor Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari’s first Hindi feature film Ishq Vishk Rebound is on the floors and is supposed to release in 2023. It stars Rohit Saraf, who was seen in Dear Zindagi, The Sky is Pink, Ludo and Mismatched, among others.

The film marks the debut of Hrithik Roshan’s cousin Pashmina Roshan, daughter of Rajesh Roshan and Jibraan Khan, who played Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s son in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Naila Grewal, who has worked in Tamasha and Bareilly Ki Barfi, plays one of the four leads.

On Instagram, Shahid, Amrita, Shenaz, and Ken tripped on nostalgia to congratulate and wish success to the new cast and crew.
