Actress and fashionista Sonam Kapoor married fiancé Anand Ahuja in a traditional Sikh ceremony at the heritage Rockdale bungalow in Bandra on Tuesday.
The bride wore a customised Anuradha Vakil red and gold lehenga choli, while New Delhi businessman Anand donned a beige sherwani designed by Raghavendra Rathore.
Father of the bride Anil Kapoor looked happy and emotional, as Sonam’s brother Harshvardhan Kapoor and cousin Arjun Kapoor walked her to the mandap.
Harshvardhan later distributed sweets to mediapersons gathered outside the venue. A message on the boxes of sweets read: “The Kapoor and Ahuja Family would like to thank you for the constant support and love you have shown us through this special time. We truly appreciate it.”

Only close friends and family of the couple were at the ceremony. Apart from Sonam’s immediate family members, also present at the venue was her second cousin, actor Ranveer Singh, as were friends Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar.
Kareena and her husband Saif Ali Khan returned to Mumbai from London on Monday.

Kareena’s elder sister Karisma Kapoor was present, but the show stealer was Baby Taimur as he entered the venue in the lap of Saif, his tiny little ponytail grabbing all attention.
Also present were Karan Johar, who posted pictures with his three heroines Rani Mukerji, Karisma and Kareena; Amitabh Bachchan with daughter Shweta Nanda and son Abhishek Bachchan. The Bachchans chose Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creations.

Jacqueline Fernandez, Aamir Khan, with wife Kiran and son Junaid, also came.
Sonam changed into a rust-pink lehenga choli after the wedding and the couple cut a quirky two-tier cake of a bride dragging the groom out of a basketball court, hinting at Anand’s love for the sport. Arjun and Ranveer sang a hip hop version of Sonam’s chartbuster, Masakali from Delhi 6.

The ceremony was followed by lunch. The reception was at The Leela in the evening.

At the mehndi party on Monday evening, Sonam played the kaleerein game with her friends and cousins. Shilpa Shetty danced with Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.
