Ranbir Kapoor has not had a very successful run at the box office of late, but the actor has been known for his intense roles and the dedication he puts in. Well, not many know that Ranbir has a strange habit to get into the skin of his characters.
The Kapoor scion uses only a single cologne at the time he is essaying a role.
“When I take up a role, I am shooting the film consistently for seven to eight months. During that period I use one particular perfume throughout as it makes me get closer to the character,” said Ranbir. “I travel along with my characters and get inside their skin. I believe that using one particular fragrance enhances my memory and takes me back to the character I play. I use different perfumes for every role. It’s a method I have used and it has helped me to a great extent.”
The actor will next be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt. The actor says there are various layers to the character and he has used different perfumes for each stage. “When I met Sanjay Dutt I asked him what he used to use when he was young, or what perfumes he used when he became a star. I asked him if he would lend me those perfumes. Finally one day I went to his house and raided his cupboard and took away all the perfumes that he used. I have even borrowed his clothes and shoes for the role as it brought me closer to the person he is,” said Ranbir.
On a lighter note, he added: “He (Dutt) was nice enough to give them all to me. I took a lot of advantage for the biopic.”
Makes us wonder about the fragnances he has used for his different films over the past 10 years, considering Ranbir’s stellar performance in them. Think Raajneeti, Barfi! or Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
