Love Breakups Zindagi girl and former beauty queen Dia Mirza tells t2 how she keeps her skin looking peachy perfect and those locks high on lustre.
Do you follow any beauty regimen on a daily basis?
It’s a fuss-free and simple regimen of cleansing and moisturising that works for me. I use a face scrub twice a week to clean the pores and follow it up with a cooling face pack. I am also very particular about removing make-up and deep cleansing my skin thoroughly before going to bed. For my eyes, I use an under-eye serum that’s very relaxing. All the products that I use are nature-based.
How do you take care of your hair to keep it high on gloss?
I make an effort to get an oil massage at least once a month. A good conditioner after shampooing also helps keep my hair healthy and silky. The Body Shop has a fantastic hair butter that can be used after conditioning the hair.
What about your skin? How do you protect it during outdoor shoots?
The best skin protection when outdoors is a good sun block before applying make-up. Vichy has a SPF 70 sun block that is light and non-greasy.
When in the mood to pamper your hair and skin, what do you like getting done?
A good massage always rejuvenates my scalp and skin, for that pampered feel.
A beauty secret your grandmother passed on to you?
My grandmother shared her beauty secrets with my mother and those, in turn, were passed on to me. I was told that healthy eating, drinking plenty of water and keeping the skin hydrated is the best way to have beautiful, glowing skin.
What is the wackiest hairdo you have sported so far?
I love experimenting with hairstyles. Given the nature of my job, there have been many occasions where I have had to try some really interesting hairdos. Up-styles, tonging, curling — I must have gone in for every look in the book! The wackiest hairdo that I have sported was for this photo shoot where I was made to wear a long, blonde, poker-straight wig. It was a complete hair makeover for me.
Who made you feel beautiful for the first time?
My mother! Even though she has always been the one to remind me about never letting my looks go to my head.
What’s the best beauty compliment your boyfriend Sahil Sangha (the director of Love Breakups Zindagi) has given you? And when?
Sahil’s compliments are mostly related to my thoughts, ideas and actions. He doesn’t fuss about the way I look although he is always forthcoming in paying me a simple compliment like, ‘You look stunning’. We keep it real and I like it that way.

Fave fashion period:
The 60s and 70s. Retro chic.
Fave accessory from that period:
Those flower bands in the shape of a halo... they look really pretty. Especially if you have soft curls.
Housefull 2 look book: Very glamorous. People see me as this young and cute (girl) but I am going to up the oomph factor here how much ever I can.
Beauty box must-haves:
A good mascara. Mac’s Zoom Lash is very nice. And, contact lenses.
A recent beauty buy:
I just bought a beautiful cream blush from Nars called Cactus Flower. It’s like a rosy-reddish-pink blush.
