Pair of pairs: Mad Love, STAR World’s newest rom com, is a delightful watch. Perfectly timed for those who don’t like to step out on a Saturday night (10pm), it’s the show you will most enjoy tucked in the duvet, devouring your weekend chocolate treat.

The show is about two boys and two girls. The trappings are typical. Boy meets girl. Boy’s friend meets girl’s friend. Boy and girl fall in love. But the friends don’t. But there are twists and turns — turn, as the ex-girlfriend turns up; and twist, when they almost don’t meet again.

Larry & Connie

The show’s been compared to How I Met Your Mother. It’s got that nice cool vibe. Ben Parr (played by Jason Biggs from the American Pie movies) might not be as cute (or dorky) as HIMYM’s Ted and Kate Swanson (played by Sarah Chalke) might not be as picture perfect as HIMYM’s Robin. But we need to watch out for the chemistry between Larry Munsch (played by Tyler Labine) and Connie Grabowski (played by Judy Greer). She’s a nanny; he’s a fatty. She’s serious; he’s funny. Together, they crack up the small screen. The first episode looks promising and we are looking forward to a great first season. So far they haven’t announced a second, but still, it’s mad and it’s about love. Can’t be that bad, can it?
