Fans of Calcutta band Underground Authority will be thrilled to hear that after four years, frontman and lyricist EPR and ex-guitarist of the band, Kuntal De, have reunited to form a new band called IYKU. Their new single Maya, in collaboration with Nikhita Gandhi, was released earlier this month.
The song is a celebration of breaking free from the illusions of the world, by creating your own mark and version of success. The music video is set in Benaras since it was an “ideal location for the breaking of these boundaries”.

“There is a saying that music brings people together. With new technology and an international music industry, it is important for everybody to listen to everything. You need to break through. I always go for political lyrics, so my friends suggested that I try something new,” said EPR. IYKU’s collaboration with Nikhita Gandhi brings to the fore a mixed bag of genres that this single represents — electronica, rap and folk.
“Whatever we try to do with IYKU is going to be different. We are independent, and not associated with any label. People put a tag to versatility, but we are trying to break that,” said EPR. The song is now available on iTunes and YouTube.
