Don’t ignore featuring artistes! Remember the song Don’t Let Me Down from The Chainsmokers? You do? Remember the featuring artiste? Nope. It’s Daya Tandon. And her debut album, Sit Still, Look Pretty, is arriving next month.

The name
The Pittsburgh native was born Grace Martine Tandon. “I’m a quarter-Indian because of my grandpa. My dad’s dad immigrated from India. I was just looking up translations online one time and I came across Daya. It’s like a loose translation of ‘grace’. It means mercy, compassion, grace, everything…. I wanted to change, and I wanted to be different than I had,” the 17-year-old told iHeartRadio in June.

Her first single
Hide Away (2015). It made it to #23 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and it was full of promise. “I was a senior in high school, and I wasn’t thinking that far down the road about my career. But the change has been great, I’ve embraced it, and I’m super excited for what’s to come,” she has told Fuse, the online music magazine.

Whenever you see Yellow, think of...
Her music is a cool blend of pop and rock and she has toured with pop-rap and Vine sensation duo Jack & Jack. She streams a lot of Coldplay and U2. “I think the first concert I attended was Coldplay with my dad when I was around eight years old. I remember looking out into the sea of phone lights as Chris Martin belted Yellow on the piano and deciding that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” she has told The Rolling Stone.

And she promises…
“I have a lot of surprises in store. I promise it will never be a boring ride! I honestly just hope to continue creating music that people can relate to and connect with in a personal way.”
