Mithun Chakraborty, who is busy playing husband to Rituparna Sengupta in Partha Ghosh’s Bengali film Rehmat Ali, is keen to do more Tolly projects. In the pipeline is Bindaas by Narayan Roy, the man with whom Mithun had delivered three hits some years ago.
“Narayan and I have given superhits before and now I am going to do his Bindaas. The character I was offered is quite different and I am happy to team up with him again after a long gap,” said Mithun.
The director-actor duo found box-office success with Bangalibabu, Santrash and Swapnedekha Rajkanya between 2002 and 2004. “I was the one to stage Mithun’s comeback in Tollywood with Bangalibabu in 2002,” said Roy, who has been missing in action for the past few years. “Most producers would ask me to make remakes of Tamil films, so I stopped doing feature films and took to making TV serials. Now I am looking forward to working with Mithun in December,” he added.
Bindaas revolves around a young couple (played by Swarnakamal and newcomer Shayak) who run away from home to tie the knot. The cops are on their heels but Mithun, who plays police constable Dhol Gobindaram, ends up helping the lovers while pretending to catch them.
