The BMW i8 was unveiled by actress Tonushree Chakraborty at ITC Sonar on September 27. “This car is for the person who not only loves sports cars but also wants to do his bit for the environment with an eco-friendly set of wheels,” said Amit Ganguli, vice-president, OSL Prestige. The car is available at the OSL Prestige showroom on EM Bypass.
What you need to know about the BMW i8:
- The BMW i8 is a luxury hybrid car, which means it runs electrically as well as on fuel.
- It’s India’s first plug-in hybrid car, which means it can be charged at a charging point.
- On full charge, it can cover almost 40km before automatically switching to the fuel engine.
- It’s a two-door four-seater, with two baby seats in the rear and two passenger seats in front.
- It can go from 0 kmph to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds.
- The car is built with carbon fibre, which is 50 per cent stronger than aluminium or steel and 70 per cent lighter.
- The car costs Rs 3.31 crore.
