A super glam line of couture clothing by Manish Malhotra, accessorised by an avant- garde collection of couture jewellery by Raj Mahtani. The Spanish National Day evening at ITC Sonar’s Pala on October 4 was a love affair with all things luxurious. The evening started off with some Spanish song and dance, courtesy singer Sandeep Vyas and then dancers Rosana Maya and Shehzeen Cassum. The fashion show that followed played around with Spanish influences in keeping with the evening’s theme, but of course merging it with elements of Indian luxury. The show started with glamorous cocktail looks and moved on to full-on bridals. Closing the show were actresses Raima Sen, Pooja Hegde and Kiara Advani.

I am glad to have received such a warm welcome from Calcutta. The entire experience was a spectacular one, where we celebrated Indian fashion and its global influence. My collection celebrated both tradition and the modernism of Indian fashion today with an array of refined silhouettes that married craftsmanship with glamour for the contemporary man and woman. With the brand’s new direction in design and a futuristic approach, each element of this collection showcased the versatility and design language of Indian couture with elegant outfits that can be worn across occasions, from weddings to gala soirees. Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani and Raima Sen played the perfect muses.... I hope that I have the opportunity of doing more such shows in Calcutta — Manish Malhotra

I wanted to bring about an avant-garde look to bridal jewellery. In my opinion, the whole ethnic thing has been overdone. I have, therefore, created a luxurious yet contemporary look with strong underlying traditional elements in this collection called Bridal Vanguardista. Manish and I have collaborated to create a vision of contemporary luxury for every woman to dream of and aspire to possess — Raj Mahtani
