Neon, bassist

Neon is a loner, who doesn’t talk much but when he does he says it with conviction. He is passionate about music and the only thing that matters to him is his bass guitar. He also has drug addiction problems. Saswata Chatterjee (his father) is a drunkard and unemployed. Sudipa Basu (his mother) keeps the family going.

Baji, drummer

Baji is Muslim; his real name is Faisal. He’s very impulsive, very edgy. His brother gets arrested for criminal activities and Baji gets involved trying to get him out of jail. He drops out of school and things aren’t pleasant at home. The band turns out to be his only refuge.

Benji is the youngest in the four-member band. He’s all about quick emotions and has a relationship with Joy. His family lives away from Calcutta, so he stays with his mashi who is very loving. My character is about carrying an attitude of “I can do anything”.

Pablo is more like the youthful poet at heart. The film deals with Pablo leaving the band because of his ego, which is further aggravated by the fact that his girlfriend sings better than him. Pablo grows up in the process.

Joy is Benji’s love interest. She comes from an upper-middle class family and being an only child, she gets a little out of hand. She’s spoilt, has a temper and is a bit of a brat. The fact that her boyfriend is a member of a rock band gives her a high.

Tania typifies teenage confusion like the rest but manages to resolve all the conflicts within her by the end of the film. By fluke she replaces the lead vocalist of the band, Pablo, who also happens to be her boyfriend. Her parents want her to go abroad for studies, while she wants to do music with her friends.
