Lunch & light bites

Get the combination right at lunch

TT Bureau Published 29.05.15, 12:00 AM

If you’ve run out of options for a work lunch, head to Aaira. The restaurant at The Myx is making things easy with lunch-time combo meals.

Executive sous chef Abbas, who had worked extensively in the Middle East, has brought in the culinary influences from the region and beyond to design the combos. If the Mendi Combo has an Arabic Chicken Biryani, Dariya Mahel offers Baida Roti and Goan Fish Curry. And there’s plenty for vegetarians to choose from, with four combos each in the vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections.

The combos, says chef Abbas, “try to appeal to the chatpata city of Calcutta, bringing out the essence of tok, jhaal and mishti.” If the chicken in Arabic biryani has a hint of ketchup, the Vegetable Shashlik that comes with the Kochi Combo is sweet and spicy. All the combos come with a complimentary soft drink of the guest’s choice.

Where: Aaira, 1st floor, The Myx, 20G Park Street
What: Affordable combo meals
When: Monday-Saturday, noon to 3pm
Pocket pinch: Between Rs 225-plus and Rs 355-plus per meal

The Mendi Combo: Laham Khewa Kebab is an Indian version of the British delicacy, Scotch eggs — boiled eggs in a casing of mutton keema and spices is the winner here. There is also Arabic Chicken Biryani, Mutton Shorba, a portion of fresh salad and raita on the platter
