Koffee with Karan Season 7 Episode 7 was a treat, with Vicky Kaushal and Sidharth Malhotra spilling some beans. Unlike the other episodes this season, host Karan Johar was successful in prying out some relationship secrets from the two charming men. And the fact that neither Vicky nor Sidharth was here to promote any upcoming film was a refreshing break too. The boys were fun to watch, especially as they gave each other a run for their money during the rapid fire and the quiz rounds. Here are the highlights from the episode that makes it arguably the best one of Season 7 so far.

Sidharth confirms his relationship with Kiara Advani

Shershaah co-stars Sidharth and Kiara Advani’s real-life romance was under Karan’s scanner, who kept grilling Sidharth about his intentions of marrying Kiara. While Sidharth tried to be noncommittal, Karan played a clip from an upcoming episode where Kiara is joined by her Kabir Singh co-star Shahid Kapoor. In the clip, Kiara admits that she and Sidharth are much more than just friends. She also did not deny that she was ready to get married.

Sidharth, turning a shade of red, admitted dating Kiara and told Karan that he would definitely be invited to his wedding.

Karan roasts his own film, Student of the Year

With his guests being candid about their lives, Karan opened up about the doubts he had when filming Student of the Year (2012), which marked the film debut of Sidharth, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Sidharth brought up the movie and Karan immediately began dissing it. He ranted that it had no screenplay or scope for the actors to display their talent and that he must have been drunk when he started work on the film. When Sidharth tried to interject the rant, Karan revealed that major changes were made in the script to at least turn the film into an entertaining watch.

Vicky as Katrina’s smitten and supportive husband

If you’re a fan of Vicky Kaushal the actor, you’ll fall harder for Vicky Kaushal the doting husband. Vicky spoke candidly about his marriage to Katrina Kaif and was unapologetic about their very private wedding. While Katrina is “wise and compassionate” and someone who “grounds” him by always stating hard facts, he joked about his wardrobe slowly shrinking into a drawer as his wife keeps taking over the couple’s storage space.

Despite the dispute over closet space, Vicky jumped to Katrina’s support during the ‘Hey Karan, it’s me!’ round. Katrina told Karan that she was eating ice cream to which Sidharth claimed she was lying. Vicky came to his wife’s defence and said she was having a cooling treat as she had her wisdom tooth removed.

Vicky on not being a ‘nepo-kid’

The term ‘nepo-kid’ is an oft-used word on Koffee with Karan. This time the term was directed at Vicky, whose father Sham Kaushal is an action director. Despite this family link to the film industry, Vicky said his journey to stardom was just like anyone without any links to the industry as his father’s work was purely technical and had nothing to do with acting.

Honest and competitive rapid fire and quiz segments

The rapid fire round in the past six episodes has been pretty one-sided with one guest doing all the candid answering and the other keeping their lips sealed. However, neither of the two guests in Episode 7 ducked from the questions. Vicky did not stutter when admitting that Fitoor (2016) was his wife’s worst film. Sidharth confessed to missing his ex-girlfriend Alia Bhatt’s cat when asked what he misses about her.

The quiz round was also by far the most engaging of Season 7. One segment had the two Punjabi men pronounce words like ‘toilet’ and ‘Canada’ in a Punjabi accent, based on a popular social media accent challenge. They also showed off their moves in the segment where they were asked to do the signature dance steps of certain songs.

The most adorable part of the episode was when Vicky called Kiara to win a point in the ‘Hey Karan, it’s me!’ round. Kiara called Sidharth right after Vicky’s call, even though he had not called her, to help him win a point. Though Sidharth lost the quiz round, he seems to have truly won Kiara’s heart!
