Actor Kartik Aaryan is set to start shooting for Kabir Khan’s yet-untitled film, touted as a “fascinating true story of an unknown hero”, in May, the filmmaker has said.

“I’ll start shooting for the film from May probably and Kartik Aaryan is playing the lead in it. The casting for other characters is underway,” the Ek Tha Tiger director said at a recent event.

“It’s a fascinating true story that I came across. This time around it’s about an unknown hero, unlike 83 which showed living legends who we all know about. What compelled me to tell this story is that as Indians you’ll be shocked that how do we not know this person. How did we let someone who did all this fade away? That’s the excitement,” he added.

Kartik is currently shooting for a romantic track from his upcoming film Satyaprem Ki Katha in Kashmir. He stars alongside his Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 co-star Kiara Advani in this film. The actor recently posted a video from Kashmir on his Instagram. Satyaprem Ki Katha is set to hit the theatres on June 29.

The 32-year-old actor is said to have already begun the preps for Kabir’s film and will delve deep into the project once he’s back from Kashmir. The Gwalior-born actor was last seen in a cameo appearance in Luv Ranjan’s romantic-comedy film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

Kabir is known for films like Kabul Express, New York and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. His last directorial was the sports biographical drama 83, based on the Word Cup-winning Indian national cricket team led by Kapil Dev. It starred Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and also featured an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu and Wamiqa Gabbi.
