Ponniyin Selvan: I actor Karthi is set to share screen space with actor Arvind Swamy in ’96 helmer Premkumar’s upcoming yet-untitled Tamil-language film, cinematographer PC Sreeram has announced on Twitter.
“My next project will be with @dirpremkumar96 , who gave the ultimate love story, 96. The project will have @Karthi_Offl and @thearvindswami , with music from #GovindVasantha & produced by @2D_ENTPVTLTD @Suriya_offl #jyotika @rajsekarpandian .Dates will be announced by 2D soon.” he wrote on the microblogging platform.
In reply to the Tweet, Karthi wrote, “Honoured and excited sir 🙏🙏”
Premkumar will reunite with his frequent collaborator, music composer Govind Vasantha, for the film. Sreeream, who cranked the camera for Premkumar’s ’96, will be the cinematographer for the project. The film will be produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banner of their 2D Entertainment.
Karthi was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s epic historical action-adventure film Ponniyin Selvan: II (PS2). The actor’s upcoming film Japan is slated for a Diwali release this year.
Karthi is known for films like Kaithi (2019), Paiyaa (2010), Viruman (2022) and Kaatru Veliyidai (2017). He started his film career as an assistant director to filmmaker Mani Ratnam.
On the other hand, veteran actor Arvind Swamy is known for memorable films like Thalapathi (1991), Roja (1992) and Bombay (1995). He was last seen in Custody alongside Naga Chaitanya.
