She’s been a Disney girl as a kid, but Selena tasted real fame as Baby hitmaker Justin Bieber’s girl. Rumours of them dating surfaced in late 2010. That’s them (picture right) frolicking on the Maui beach in 2011. Their on-again-off-again relationship had ‘Jelena’ fans yo-yoing between the two camps. But the duo have finally moved on — she for good and he to model Hailey Baldwin.
Selena the crooner:
Her debut album with the Scene had electro-rock and pop-rock influences; later it became more dance-pop focused.
Stars Dance, her first solo in 2013, had an EDM-pop feel to it. Her recent songs, The Heart Wants What It Wants and Good for You, have a “minimalistic” and “grown-up” feel, “transitioning her sound into adult pop”, says Wikipedia. Much like the black-and-white cover of her new album Revival, which has her posing near-naked.
you first saw selena... In the children’s TV series Barney & Friends. But it was playing the witch Alex Russo, the lead in Disney channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place (above), that made Selena famous and put her in almost the same league as Miley Cyrus’s Hannah Montana.
Best friends forever:
With 69.4 million Instagram followers, Selena has just edged past bestie Taylor Swift (69.2 million). But if there ever was a pairing to do justice to #BFFGoals, it’s Sel and Tay’s friendship. The girls made for an aww-some outing at the recent Grammy awards. The red carpet poses and then hugging, screaming and celebrating a win for Taylor’s Bad Blood video, that also features Selena. May there never be bad blood between them!
