Team PricewaterhouseCoopers inches closer to victory in the Gold Plate finals against IBM. The eight-a-side match, played over 16 overs, saw some fab fours, super sixers, narrow misses, deft fielding and lots of adrenaline-pumping action

Of the 48 corporate teams that signed up for The Telegraph 10th Corporate Indoor Cricket Tournament, presented by Royal Challenge, six made it to the much-anticipated finals on Sunday evening at the Skydrome Indoor Cricket Arena of The Space Circle Club & Resorts.

With three grand trophies at stake — Gold Plate, Silver Plate and Bowl — the finalists brought their A-game to the indoor cricket pitch for the fight to the finish. Inside the netted cricket arena, enthusiasm and emotions ran high as players scurried to score runs and grab wickets.

“It’s the final match, so we have come with an extra boost of confidence today. Our strategy is to put in a good team effort and enjoy every second of the game,” grinned G4S captain Narendranath Dutta before leading his boys into the Bowl final.

Tournament champs PwC are all pumped up after winning the Gold Plate

Team PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) won the Gold Plate scoring 119 runs and restricting Team IBM to just 82.

Friends, family and colleagues turned up in numbers to cheer hard for their teams. “I have come here to support my son, who is playing for the Jet Airways team. His teammates consider me their lucky mascot, so I have been coming to all their matches. The tournament has been a whole lot of fun for me too,” smiled Nishrin Khasamwala. Jet Airways scored 123 and beat The Telegraph team by 25 runs to lift the Silver Plate.

“For a whole month we have watched corporate teams compete closely to make it to the finals and today everyone is in high spirits just to have come so far. It’s a stadium-like feel with all the cheering and clapping. Next year we hope to go even bigger,” said Sanjeev Ghosh, corporate general manager, Space, Spring and Circle club.
