Prashant Saigal, an idiosyncratic private detective and prime investigator of the case. He is an alcoholic but unashamed of it, and it is his dreams and hallucination coupled with his research that aid him in unravelling the mystery. He appears to be a misogynist but has had an affair in the past.

Priyanshu Chatterjee

Dr Arvind Rao, Prashant Saigal’s assistant and a criminological expert. Arvind is certainly smarter than Dr Watson. A handsome debonair bachelor, he is often admonished by Prashant for his roving eye.

Anisha Mehta, an attractive lady in her thirties. Anisha is the female protagonist of the story. She is a nightclub crooner who gets drawn into a whirlpool of crime and deceit. The story begins with her receiving diamonds by mail. This leads her to Prashant and Arvind with whom she undertakes a journey to Shillong in search of her missing father.

Raj Zutshi

Gautam Dutt and Siddharth Dutt. They are twins and heirs to a great fortune — the Agra treasure. But the treasure is taken away from them and they lose their father in a series of mysterious incidents. They are one of those responsible for Anisha receiving the jewels. The ultra-stylish Gautam Dutt tells Prashant, Arvind and Anisha the intriguing tale of the precious Agra treasure that had its origin 150 years ago and mysteriously disappeared 40 years back.

Jalaluddin, a shadowy one-legged man who casts his jagged shadow on the whole story. Not much is known about him except that he was serving a life sentence in the Agra jail before he escaped.
