| Jeet and Koel at Princeton Club. Picture by Aranya Sen |
They buried the hatchet after three years of enmity and signed Neel Akasher Chandni, slated for an August 7 release. Koel Mullick and Jeet tell t2 about their chemistry, on and off screen...
What do you play in Neel Akasher Chandni?
Koel: I am Chandni, the only daughter of a very rich man. Chandni likes to live life on her own terms but she gets married to someone other than her boyfriend. And then life changes...
Jeet: I play two characters, Akash and Anthony Gomes. One of them is a singer, the other is an aspiring singer... But I don’t want to spill the beans.
You became friends for this film after three years...
Koel: Actually we shot both Saat Pake Bandha and Neel Akasher Chandni together, so both films are special.
Jeet: When Pijushda (Saha, producer) offered me Neel Akasher Chandni I didn’t know that Koel was being considered opposite me. But when I was told that the film would have both Jisshu (Sengupta) and Koel, obviously it felt special.
Is your chemistry better in Neel Akasher than Saat Pake?
Koel: It’s difficult to say. The two films are entirely different. Jeet and I are comfortable with each other. We are good friends off screen, which I am sure has helped us have a better screen chemistry.
Jeet: Definitely yes. We are aware of our similarities and differences. The two films were shot back-to-back and our chemistry is good in both.
One fun moment from the Neel Akasher sets...
Koel: Oh! I had great fun as Jisshu and Jeet would treat me like a boy.... They would hit me, crack jokes and make me laugh all the time!
Jeet: There were lots of fun moments! One day Koel and I challenged each other to a little game to see who was scared of whom. So, she looked straight into my eyes and I looked into hers. After a while, I moved my hand slightly towards her and Koel jumped out of fright!
