Alexis Bledel, of Gilmore Girls and the 2004 Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer Bride & Prejudice, and Kurt Russell are set to star in the indie thriller Crypto. Alexis, who currently stars in second season of The Handmaid’s Tale, and Russell will be joined by actors Luke Hemsworth, Jeremie Harris, Vincent Kartheiser and Beau Knapp in the new film. The story follows a young anti-money laundering agent (Knapp) tasked with investigating a web of corruption and fraud in his remote New York hometown, where his father (Russell) and brother (Hemsworth) are struggling to maintain their family farm in a changing economic landscape. The film is currently shooting in New York.

Aamir Khan has wished Salman Khan on the release of Race 3, and said he loves the actor “personally and professionally”.  Aamir, 53, took to Twitter to praise the trailer of the Remo D’Souza film and said he will soon watch the film with his family. “Hi Salman, I haven’t seen it yet, but I am sure that me and my family are going to love Race 3 ! Love you personally and professionally. I loved the trailer! It’s going to be a blockbuster and break all records! Love,” he wrote. 

Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan has said that post his critically acclaimed film Fruitvale Station, he only wanted to play roles that were meant for white actors. During Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the 31-year-old actor told fellow actor Issa Rae after the Ryan Coogler-directed film he made a decision to not audition for roles specifically written for black people. “I said, I don’t want it. I want to only go for, like, (roles written for) white males. That’s it. Me playing that role is going to make it what it is. I don’t want any pre-bias on the character,” Jordan said. 

Ben Affleck will collaborate with Gavin O’Connor for the sports drama, The Has-Been. The 45-year-old actor will play a former basketball star who succumbs to substance abuse after he loses his wife, Deadline reported. In an offer to save his life, he turns to mentor an ethnically blended secondary school group. 

Oscar-winner Allison Janney is in negotiations to join the cast of the drama Bad Education. If finalised, the 58-year-old actress will join Hugh Jackman in the project, reported Variety. The script has been penned by Mike Makowsky and is based on I Think We’re Alone Now screenwriter Mike’s high school experience, reported Deadline. The story follows a superintendent of the school district who works for the betterment of the student’s education while embezzling public funds to live the life he wants. Jackman will portray the role of the superintendent while Janney will play the school district business manager who is in on the scheme and enjoying the same living large lifestyle while helping him (and her) to cover their tracks. 

Actor Ewan McGregor is set to star in Warner Bros’ film adaptation of Stephen King novel Doctor Sleep. Published in 2013, the book is the sequel to The Shining, which was adapted in 1977 by Stanley Kubrick. The new film, to be directed by Mike Flanagan, will feature 47-year-old McGregor as Danny Torrance, the grown-up son of Nicholson, who in the original movie had psychic powers and watched his dad descend into a murderous rage, according to The Hollywood Reporter
