In the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, we meet a jolly good-natured former Quidditch player Ludo Bagman, but he is not shown in the movie even once.
Contrary to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the subsequent books, the rift between Percy Weasley and his family is barely mentioned in the movies.
In the book Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, Dumbledore goes inside No. 4 Privet Drive to escort Harry, but in the movies, he meets him at a railway station. It would have been so much fun to see Uncle Vernon’s reaction!
Professor Slughorn’s enormous walrus-like moustache is missing in the movie Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.
In the movie Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, it is shown that Bellatrix Lestrange and Fenrir Greyback burn down the Burrow whereas there is no mention of this in the book.
Harry’s final encounter with Voldemort was very dramatic in the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where they circle each other and Harry reveals that Snape was on Dumbledore’s side and the true owner of the Elder Wand was Harry himself. It would have been so much better if this was shown in the movie, instead of Ralph Fiennes making weird noises. (Do you have a Harry Potter book-to-movie difference to add to this list? March 20)
Abhilash Saha, Katwa
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1, Severus Snape arrived at Malfoy Manor alone. In the book, he arrives with Corban Yaxley.
Later Hermione Granger is shown with her parents and Ron Weasley at The Burrow. In the book Hermione only tells her friends where she sent her parents.
Though the newspaper article in the film is seen mentioning the book The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, the film never really explores it in the same way. Harry learnt of Gellert Grindelwald later in the film, Ariana Dumbledore in part two of the film, and while Elphias Doge and Muriel later briefly talk about a couple of events, the article never upsets Harry in the same way.

The Deathday Party: The Deathday Party of Nearly Headless Nick was one of my favourite parts from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book but in the film, it was left out. It would have been really delightful to see the motley crew of ghosts invited, the absurd menu which included cakes burnt charcoal black and the ghost orchestra who played the musical saw!
The songs of the Sorting Hat: In the book, the Sorting Hat sings before the actual sorting ceremony but this was excluded from the films, denying us Potterheads the opportunity to listen to The Hogwarts Song.
Dudley’s goodbye: When Dudley shakes Harry’s hand before he leaves for the last time, it offers his character a chance at redemption but the films leave this out.
Bill and Fleur’s Wedding: Just the other day, I was telling my friend how the film had the potential to do something great with Bill and Fleur’s wedding and they pretty much botched it. The wedding was supposed to be a time of joy amidst the doom and gloom that was going on but I somehow feel that the movie failed to capture that. There was no sign of Viktor Krum anywhere like in the book.
Winky: Winky was one of the characters I really felt sorry for in the book but she was completely left out in the movies. Without her, the escape of Barty Crouch Jr. from Azkaban was made that much more unexplainable considering that there wasn’t half the uproar in comparison to when Sirius broke out.
S.P.E.W: Hermione’s formation of S.P.E.W explored her activist side which was concerned about the needs of the neglected. It showed her considerate and passionate nature and made up such an important subplot of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix that to see it excluded in the movies was really a blow to those who had read the books.
Rupanjali Samadder

In the film Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Cho Chang betrayed the DA (Dumbledore’s Army) to Dolores Umbridge. But in the book it was Marietta Edgecombe, Cho Chang’s friend who ratted out the DA!
Shreyasi Datta
In the movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry sees only his parents standing beside him in the Mirror of Erised, but in book, Harry sees his entire extended family beside him in the mirror.
On-screen Ginny Weasley was a waste. Her independent, daring character lacks the depth and personality that made her so captivating in the books.
In the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the maze was something filled with puzzles and magical creatures. In the movie, it’s just an overgrown shrubbery that moves where everyone fights each other to get to the finishing line.
There is no mention of S.P.E.W. at all in movies.
Ritwik Banerjee

There were quite a few differences, which really bugged me! Firstly, they made it seem like Cho Chang ratted out Dumbledore’s Army, when it was actually her friend. Secondly, they forgot to show Lupin and Tonks’ child of whom Harry became the godfather. Also, they never showed that sobbing elf Winky! And Dobby helped Harry in the second task of the Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire, not Neville! And they never showed the place where Dobby worked after his freedom. The next time they show Dobby, he’s still wearing the pillowcase and not proper clothes! These are a few out of many differences.
Rachel Watson
One difference that annoyed me very much was that, we never came to know who gifted Harry the Invisibility Cloak from the movies. I was watching Philosopher’s Stone, and there was no mention of it after Harry got it as a Christmas gift. I kept on thinking that it will be revealed in the other films but it was not. Then when I read Philosopher’s Stone, I realised that Dumbledore gave him that.

Weasleys: Except the parents and the twins, the Weasley siblings all underwent character assassination. Bill should’ve been ruggedly handsome, with snake-fang earrings and a ponytail, not the awkward, gangly, Domnhall Gleeson. Percy had a complex story with a lovely, tragic redemption arc. Ron was not useless and moody; he was loyal, brave, sarcastic and just as good as Hermione. Ginny was fierce, if somewhat inconsistently written. Also, no Charlie Weasley, who was basically the coolest brother. The man tamed dragons, and they cut him out! When Sam Heughan was RIGHT there!
Remus, Tonks, Teddy: We see them so seldom that we are often compelled to ask, “Who’re these, again?” The heartbreaking de ja vu was that Remus and Tonks died just like James and Lily and left behind another orphan of war.
Fleur Delacour: My favourite character was destroyed. Fleur, far from being just a pretty airhead, was proud of her femininity, outspoken but kind, and loving. Her arc with the Weasleys was wonderful. Her famous speech “I’m good looking for both of us!” to Molly just bowled me over. She and Bill were adorable.
Strategist Draco: I get the appeal of dark, angsty Tom Felton. I get it VERY well. Book Draco, however was so much more, he was a creative genius. The plans he devised to let the Death Eaters into the castle impressed even Dumbledore. He wasn’t a wimp, he was a strategist with a good idea of the consequences.
Kreacher’s tale: Morbid and sad, this part could’ve added to the story and shed better light on Kreacher, Regulus and Voldemort too.
Sritama Sen
Quidditch matches: In the books there were to be three to four Quidditch matches each year. But in the movie there was only one Quidditch match each year — Gryffindor against Slytherin. That’s not right.
Aragog: The book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets tells us that Harry, Fang and Ron were taken to Aragog, the giant arachnid by three giant spiders. But it surprised us that in the movie Harry, Fang and Ron were able to find their way merely by following spiders .
Inside the Chamber of Secrets: Fawkes the phoenix was able to heal Harry’s wound where the Basilisk inserted it’s fang before Harry destroyed Tom Riddle’s diary. But the movie shows Harry was healed after he destroyed Tom Riddle’s diary.
Draco and Hermione: According to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Draco saved Hermione when she was tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. But in the movie Draco stood there without a word.
Harry and Ginny: The love story of Harry and Ginny started after they kissed amidst 50 people after a Quidditch match. But according to the movie they kissed each other in the Room of Requirement and nobody saw them.
Sonali Modak

To add to the list:
Sirius used to come to meet Harry during the Goblet of Fire (in Hogsmeade) and was in constant touch with him through letters. In the movie Sirius talks to him once through the fireplace.
Fred and George Weasley had a lot more role in the book than in the film (even Bill for that matter). The money for their joke shop was actually sponsored by Harry from his Triwizard Tournament earnings. It would have been nice to see them doing more tricks and make everyone laugh.
Padma Patil was not in Gryffindor. She was in Ravencaw and yet in the movie the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire she appears out of nowhere in the Gryffindor common.
The duel between Sirius Black and Bellatrix Lestrange wasn’t even there in the movie. In the movie she just kills him while he was fighting Lucius Malfoy.
Jinia Banerjee
There are loads of Harry Potter book-to-movie differences that I’m sad about. In the book we see Harry gives his whole Triwizard winnings to the Weasley twins and helps them start their joke shop. This is one of my favourite parts in the book and I miss this in the movie so much.
Angira Chanda

There are a few book-to-movie differences that I wish I could simply Evanesco...
The chemistry between Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley is not shown properly in the movies. Their relationship in the movies is mainly shown by an awkward kiss in the Room of Requirement.
Winky, the house-elf, has not been shown in any of the movies.
The Hermione and S.P.E.W has not been shown in the movies.
In the book Hermione has bushy haired and had prominent front teeth. Though in the first movie Hermione has bushy hair, by the end of the series her hair is straight and blonde. Hermione with bushy hair and prominent front teeth made us believe that we can never be perfect, so let us be who we are because an original piece is better than a carbon copy.
Satarupa Mukherjee
The book explains Harry Potter as having “bright green eyes” just like his mother Lily Evans. This fact is, however, completely overlooked in the movies where Harry Potter (or rather Daniel Radcliffee) has blue eyes.
In the second book, Harry, Ron and Hermione are invited to the 500th Deathday party of Nearly Headless Nick where there are a lot of interactions between the trio and all the ghosts. It is in this party they get see Mrs. Norris petrified. This scene is missing from the movie.
The fact that Hermione founded S.P.E.W. (Society for Promotion of Elfish Welfare) for improving the conditions of the house-elves is missing in the movies.
The seventh movie has a scene where Harry and Hermione dance to a tune despite the fact that Ron had left them. No such thing takes place in the book and it is a misleading detail.
The Deathly Hallows book speaks volumes about Dumbledore’s past life, his family and his friendship with Gellert Grindelwald, one of the greatest dark wizards of all time. This information is completely omitted from the movies.

In Professor McGonagall’s words, “Oh! There are several things that I would like to say.” *Winks*
Honestly, as a Potterhead I was really enthralled when the movies released as they gave life to the stories but while watching them I did notice that several things were missing and some modified. Here are a list of them:
The Deathday Party: An interaction with ghosts on Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington’s 500th Death Anniversary. We would have loved that.
The Gillyweed: In the books, it is Dobby who hands the Gillyweed to Harry and not Neville as shown in the movies.
Winky: Hello? Where’s she?
The Dursley’s final Goodbye: Throughout the movies (and books) the Dursley’s are terrible to Harry (which makes us hate them a lot). But the movies, skipped that one moment of redemption, where Dudley shows some signs of remorse when he shakes Harry’s hand and says goodbye.
The Battle at The Astronomy Tower: In the books, there is a battle fought between the Order of Phoenix, Dumbledore’s Army and the Death Eaters, whereas in the movies, after all the Death Eaters congregate in the tower and Snape kills Dumbledore, they leave. What?!
S.P.E.W: Why isn’t there any mention of the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare in the movies?
Professor Binns: Professor, you might have not noticed that you are dead, but we did notice that you were missing in the movies.
St.Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies: No mention in the movies at all! We would have liked to have a glimpse of Neville’s parents.
Apparition tests and Wandless Magic: Essentially nobody learned anything significant in their sixth year in the movies.
Aditya Bhura, Auxilium Convent School, Barasat
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire we read that it’s Dobby who gives Harry the Gillyweed whereas in the movie it is Neville who gives it to Harry.
In Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire the movie ends with Dumbledore’s speech on remembering Cedric Diggory followed by the Golden trio waking away, there was no scene where the parting of the ways takes place.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Voldemort dies the very next second after Neville kills Nagini the snake whereas after Nagini was killed Harry who was still acting dead had put on the invisibility cloak and started to save people through Shield Charms but this is no where to be seen. As a young reader ( I am 12 ) I felt annoyed with the differences between the book and movie though I always appreciated the hard work done by the whole Harry Potter cast, writer and director.

1) Not just Peeves, a lot of characters were not shown in the movies like Charles Weasley, Andromeda and Ted Tonks.
2) In the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone book, Professor McGonagall takes away 20 points each from Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco, not 50, as shown in the movie.
3) Sir Nicholas or Nearly Headless Nick had invited the trio to his 500th Deathday party, which was not shown in the movie. A lot of interactions between students and the ghosts have been omitted.
Sharmila Choudhury
I’m really glad that the Potterheads at the t2 office came up with this topic.
1. Philosopher’s Stone
a) In the movie it was shown that it is only his parents that Harry sees in The Mirror of Erised but in the book Harry sees his entire family that is, all the Potters.
2. Chamber of Secrets
a) Harry and Ron heard and saw the message ‘Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever’ which revealed the fact that Ginny had been taken to the Chamber, hiding behind a wall in the corridor but in the book they heard it hiding in a staffroom cupboard.
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
a) While practicing the Patronus Charm with Lupin, Harry said that the memory he chose when he succeeded in producing a non - corporeal Patronus was when he learnt that he was a wizard but in the movie Harry said it was the memory was of him seeing his parents for the first time in the Mirror of Erised.
4. Goblet of Fire
a) The Gillyweed, which Harry used in the second task of the tournament was actually given to him by Dobby but in the movies it was Neville who gave it to Harry.
5. Order of the Phoenix
a) It was Marietta Edgecombe who betrayed Dumbledore’s Army not Cho Chang as shown in the movie.
6. Half-Blood Prince
a) Dumbledore came to take Harry from his uncle and aunt’s house but in the movies he comes to take him whilst he was busy flirting with a girl in some sort of cafe.
7. Deathly Hallows
a) During The Battle of Hogwarts it was Crabbe and Goyle who went with Draco to the Room of Requirement following Harry and it was Crabbe who died in the fire, but in the movies it was Blaine Zabini and Goyle who go with Draco and Goyle who dies.
Ritwik Basu
In the Half-Blood Prince book, the Prime Minister of the Muggle World is confused about the bridge collapse after which Cornelius Fudge tells him about the situation in the magic world and informs him about the Death Eaters, and dementors and none of it is shown in the movie including the conversation where we get to hear about Cornelius Fudge’s successor as Minister of Magic — Rufus Scrimgeour! Isn’t this honestly too much to be cut out from the movie?!
The movie also cuts out Bellatrix and Narcissa’s conversation before they knock onto Snape’s door and a whole lot the conversation between Snape and Bellatrix that followed!
The movie also leaves out the part where Harry is informed of the fact that he’s the heir to Sirius’s property!
Dhriti Podder
Though I absolutely love the Harry Potter movies, there are some annoying differences that I would like to add.
1) In the movies, the history of two main characters of the series has been neglected — Albus Dumbledore and Tom Riddle. J.K. Rowling has given quite a valid reason for Tom Riddle being transformed into the darkest wizard of his time. But this was not highlighted in the movies.
2) In the Deathly Hallows, while Harry was about to finish Voldemort, he told Voldemort that Severus Snape was always on his side and that the true owner of Elder Wand was Harry himself. But the movies were more bothered about how Voldemort evaporated in the air.
3) Also it would have been much better if Ron would have entered the Quidditch team in Order of the Phoenix, as mentioned in the book rather than the Half-Blood Prince.
Meghna Dixit
These are some of the differences that my brother and I found:
Harry Potter and the The Order of the Phoenix
The meeting between Rita Skeeter, Luna Lovegood and Hermione where for the big expose on the return of Voldemort was missed out.
Moreover it was Marrietta (Cho Chang’s friend) who snitched on Dumbledore’s Army and not Cho as shown in the movie.
Harry Potter and the The Half-Blood Prince
No history given of a very crucial Horcrux — Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup — and related characters like Hepzibbah and Hokey.
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
In the book, Bellatrix Lestrange used the Cruciatus Curse on Hermione when they were held captive in the Malfoy Manor while in the movies Bellatrix cut “mudblood” into Hermione’s hand.
Harry’s godson Teddy Lupin was not mentioned in the movies.
Adrik and Ahina Gangopadhyay
In the books Draco meets Harry at Diagon Alley but in the movies he meets Harry at Hogwarts.
Shuvangi Mitra
I want to add three differences to this list:
One of the most crucial topics in Harry Potter was Voldemort’s background, how he was born out of the effect of the love potion and so love became the strongest shield against him. I hated how in the movie Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince, the background story of Tom started at Dumbledore’s first meeting with him at the orphanage. The viewers deserved to know the story of Merope and Tom senior and the details of the birth of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
In the book Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it was Tonks who found Harry under the Body Binding Curse inside Hogwarts Express at Hogsmeade station. But the movie showed Luna rescuing Harry instead.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book the final round of the Triwizard Tournament had one final task which was to solve the riddle given by the Sphinx. This was absent in the movie and I missed this scene badly. I can go on with this list but these three are the most important.
Ritrisha Banerjee
There has been no mention of the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W.), which was started by Hermione Granger for the sake of the house-elves. And there was no sign of Winky, the house-elf that originally belonged to the Crouch family and was later assigned to Hogwarts.
Also, Ginny Weasley has not been portrayed as the brave girl she was. She always seemed to just crush on Harry. Harry and Ginny’s relationship and how perfect they were for each other were not well depicted, which led to fans not shipping them. The only time they connect is through that awkward kiss in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Not to forget, there has been no sign of the history of Voldermort’s family. The fact that Voldermort’s mother gave his husband a love-potion, led to her son’s downfall and extreme villainy.
Salomi Ishita Datta
The thing that I missed the most in the movies were Fred Weasley and George Weasley. They weren’t shown as much as they were in the book. For example in Order of the Phoenix the movie did show Fred and George giving a tough time to Umbridge but what I really wanted to see was the portable swamp. I also didn’t really understand the point of showing The Burrow burning. In the book The Burrow was given tight security so there was really no way that the Death Eaters could burn it, but in the movie they did. Also, I wanted to see more of Tonks in the movies. I love Luna, but the fact that she fixes Harry’s nose bothers me because it was Tonks in the book. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 they should have shown the goodbye conversation between Dudley and Harry. That conversation showed that Dudley never thought of his cousin to be a ‘waste of space’.
Harshita Sharma
Dobby and Winky missing in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie: Winky, the former house-elf of the Crouch family was crucial in carrying out Bartemius Crouch Jr.’s plans to resurrect Voldemort. Dobby was present with her in the Hogwarts kitchens all the time and carried out orders from the impostor Alastor Moody to help Harry with the second task. Winky is never shown in the movie and Dobby just appears in the Chamber of Secrets movie and then directly in the Deathly Hallows movies.
The Third Task in Goblet of Fire: I believe Goblet of Fire was the most ‘ridikkulus’ly written Harry Potter film with a lot of incorrect and missing details. The third task failed to impress Potterheads. No Riddling Sphinx, no fully-grown Blast-ended Skrewt, no giant spider... were they kidding us?! A huge let-down.
No pensieve in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: In the book, at the time when Snape was giving occlumency lessons to Harry, there is a moment when in Snape’s absence Harry finds a pensieve in his office and decides to enter Snape’s memories where he finds out about his father’s and Sirius’s brutal bullying of Snape in school. Later, Snape catches him and kicks him out of his office and tells Harry to never come to him again for learning occlumency. However, in the films, Harry is frustrated about Snape reading his mind using the Legilimens Charm and angrily casts the Shield Charm and reads Snape’s thoughts, which is absolutely preposterous as Snape is an expert Legilimens and Occlumens and his mind can’t be penetrated so easily.
Voldemort’s memories not shown properly in Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince movie: An integral part of the Half-Blood Prince book is Dumbledore and Harry visiting memories of various people through the pensieve to learn about Voldemort’s early life and about the potential Horcruxes he made. However in the movies a major chunk of those memories aren’t shown properly.
The Battle of Hogwarts is missing a lot of details in the Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows — Part 2 movie: I can probably write an essay on this as so many changes were made in the movie. In the books Harry finds out about The Grey Lady and the Lost Diadem from Cho, and not Luna as shown in the movie. In the books, Harry used his Invisibility Cloak to enter the Ravenclaw common room where the Carrows come in, while McGonagall confronts them, ultimately resulting in Harry attacking the Carrows. Snape gets to know about Harry and tries to find him, resulting in a duel with McGonagall, from which he ultimately escapes, not wanting to hurt McGonagall. But in the movie, Snape suspects Harry has entered Hogwarts and calls all students knowing anything about Harry’s whereabouts. Harry comes face to face with the Headmaster dramatically, ultimately leading to the duel between Snape and McGonagall. Percy and the great Weasley reunion is missing in the movie, which was quite a touching moment in the books. Harry and Voldemort actually duelled in the Great Hall with Harry speaking about Snape. But in the movie, Harry and Voldemort fight in the grounds in an over-dramatic way.
Colin Creevey gets scrapped from the movies after an appearance in the Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets movie: Though not a pivotal character after the Chamber of Secrets novel, Colin was one of the important background characters which we came across. A self-proclaimed fan of Harry, he was also present in Dumbledore’s Army, learning Defence Against the Dark Arts from Harry, a person whose loyalty could never be questioned. Sadly, he dies in the Battle of Hogwarts fighting on Harry’s side. In the movies, he isn’t shown after the second installment.
Pritish Patra, Bagbazar
In the books it was shown that Harry and Hermione got detention with Malfoy and Neville because Ron was with Madam Pomfrey whereas in the movie it is shown that Harry, Ron, Hermione and Malfoy got detention.
In the books one, four and five the Sorting Hat had a song but none of the movies had it.
In the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it is shown that Snape came to know of the trio’s location in the Forest of Dean with the help of Phineas Nigellus Black whereas in the movie Phineas is not shown and hence it is still unknown how Snape found their location.
In the Deathly Hallows book we come to know more about Regulus Arcturus Black (R.A.B.) and how he replaced the Horcrux and died which is not shown in the movie.
Dobby is the one who informed Harry about the use of Gillyweed in Goblet of Fire, not Neville.
Throughout the series (book/movie) the Dursleys are terrible to Harry. However the movies skipped over Dudley’s one moment of redemption where he said to Harry, “I don’t think you are a waste of space.”
Shubham Sinha
I’d like to point out the ultimate fight scene between Harry and Lord Voldemort and his death scene were shot in an absurd manner in the film. The fight takes place in the Great Hall and everyone watches; Harry does not take off with Lord Voldemort and duel outside the castle. And Voldy definitely doesn’t evaporate into what appears to be flying wisps of paper or ash. It hurt to watch that scene because the book portrayed it brilliantly, and you could see it unfolding in front of your eyes, how Voldemort, hit by his own curse, dies with hundreds watching.
I also hate how Professor McGonagall, Kingsley and Slughorn’s joint fight with Lord Voldemort was left out.
Kreacher’s transformation was also left out.
Do not even get me started on Half-Blood Prince. The best book made into the worst movie of the entire series.
Also, thank you for pointing out those hideous lehengas. What an awful way of perpetuating stereotypes!
Ishani SenGupta
A) Most of Harry’s sarcastic dialogues have not been included in the films.
B) The Flaw in the Plan, the last but one chapter in the final book, where the true master of the Elder Wand as well as the real plan that Albus Dumbledore had was not present in the film. Thus, the fans who have not read the books remain ignorant of the facts pointed out by Harry to Lord Voldemort. Instead of the Great Hall, in the film the fight took place in the courtyard.

This is a wonderful topic for Potterheads like me as we can complain about book-to-movie differences. Here are a few I noticed:
1. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire after Draco leaves an injured and immobilised Harry on the train in the book the train leaves and Tonks comes to rescue him but in the movie Luna rescues Harry before the train leaves.
2. In the Chamber of Secrets book, Nearly Headless Nick’s 500th Deathday anniversary is left out.
3. In the movie Goblet of Fire Harry is informed about gillyweed by Neville but in the book Dobby informs him about it.
4. The Crouch family’s house-elf Winky is left out even though her part is quite important in Goblet of Fire.
5. In the books there is a detailed description of both Voldemort and Dumbledore’s pasts. The films do not mention it that much.
6. In the Half-Blood Prince book, after Dumbledore’s death there is a battle between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix. This is not there in the movie.
7. The Society for Protection of Elfish Welfare ( S.P.E.W.) is not mentioned so we cannot see Hermione’s passion for helping house-elves.
8. Bill Weasley being bitten by a werewolf is not mentioned.
9. Harry’s godson Teddy Lupin, Remus and Tonks’s son is not mentioned in the movies. This is disappointing as Harry and Ted’s relationship could have grown as good as Harry and Sirius’s.

Nearly Headless Nick’s Deathday Party was left out of the film and it would have been “delightful to see the motley crew of ghosts, the absurd menu which included cakes burnt charcoal black and the ghost orchestra who played the musical saw!”
In the books the Gillyweed Harry uses for the second task of the Triwizard Tournament is handed over by Dobby “and not Neville as shown in the movies”.
The chemistry between Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley is not shown properly in the movies. “Their relationship in the movies is mainly shown by an awkward kiss in the Room of Requirement.”
The absence of Winky, the sobbing elf. “Hello? Where’s she?”
In the final battle between Harry and Voldemort Harry talks about Snape and himself being the true master of the Elder wand “instead of Ralph Fiennes making weird noises” as in the movie.
The movie cut out Dudley Dursley’s redemption arc “where Dudley shows some signs of remorse when he shakes Harry’s hand and says goodbye”.
The DA snitch was Marietta Edgecombe and “not Cho Chang as shown in the movie”.
