Former English footballer David Beckham spoke about his “Indian fashion choices” and “incredible” Indian experience in separate conversations with a bunch of Bollywood actresses at Mumbai’s Meta office on Thursday.

Looking dapper in a blue pantsuit, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star was talking about his first visit to India as UNICEF’s Goodwill ambassador, revealing how he has been enjoying promoting gender equality and girl empowerment on his first visit to the country.

The 48-year-old footballer told actress Tridha Choudhury that he has been working with UNICEF since his teenage years. “It’s the most important work that I actually do. I enjoy it a lot,” he said.

Tridha, however, steered the conversation in a different direction as she asked the 48-year-old footballer about his Indian fashion choices. “If an Indian designer were to style you in Indian clothing for the festive season, have you ever heard of kurta or sherwani, so what colour would you choose?” When a perplexed Beckham asked Tridha about what colour she thought would suit him, the 29-year-old actress said a jade kurta would be perfect for him, before jokingly offering to take him to a good place to buy one next time he visits India.

Beckham also met with actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja at her Diwali bash. The 38-year-old actress shared pictures from her celebration with the footballer and her husband Anand Ahuja on Friday. Sonam and Anand were all decked up in ethnic attire, while Beckham went for an all-black outfit.

“It was such a pleasure showing you a small taste of India @davidbeckham @davidgardnerm Hope you loved India as much as India loves you!” Sonam wrote in the caption.

The legendary footballer also indulged in a conversation with Sara Ali Khan, about his inspirational football journey and his unwavering passion for the game. He also shared personal stories in order to motivate budding footballers and collaborated with a few Instagram content creators as well.

Sara took to her Instagram on Friday to share a clip of the time she and her brother Ibrahim spent with Beckham at the Meta Office. “More than just the celebrity we all admire, it was so amazing to hear this philanthropist talk about equality and education for the girl child with so much care and compassion,” the 28-year-old actress wrote alongside the video.

“Truly inspiring to see someone use their resources, voice and stature to try and make a difference. Here’s hoping more and more people continue to do the same,” she added.

Beckham attended the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final match between India and New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium on Wednesday. He met Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and cricketer Virat Kohli during his stay at the stadium.
